37 weeks!

37 weeks
Your baby is now considered "full term," even though your due date is three weeks away. If you go into labor now, his lungs will likely be mature enough to fully adjust to life outside the womb. Your baby weighs 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (like a stalk of Swiss chard). Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches long. But don't be surprised if your baby's hair isn't the same color as yours. Dark-haired couples are sometimes thrown for a loop when their children come out as blonds or redheads, and fair-haired couples have been surprised by Elvis look-alikes. And then, of course, some babies sport only peach fuzz.

And... here's what I look like at my baby shower at 37 weeks!

Stretch marks? still the same... I don't think they're multiplying at the moment but shhh.. they may hear you!

Sleep: Is good for about half the night... then once I wake up around 3 or 4 there is just no going back to sleep... my brain is on overdrive and will not let me rest!

Movement: Squishy is very active today. More active than he/she has been in a week or so! Mommy's loving it!

Food commentary: Things aren't sounding good to me again... I don't like this trend... I want to eat DAMNIT!

Labor Signs: Having very sporadic contractions... nothing major. Dying for something more concrete!

Belly Button in or out? Some days it's in and other days it's out... it goes back and forth!

What I miss: Sleeping on my tummy! Wine! The time when I didn't waddle like a duck! Wine! And many many more things!

What I am looking forward to: Not baby related... but dinner out with my husband tomorrow night, and possibly a movie. Then Sunday is baby shower #2, thrown by the ever amazing Aunt A!

Nesting madness: comes in spurts! But I get worn out so quickly that it never amounts to much!

Milestones: Almost full term (Saturday)

Appointment

Had an appointment with the MW today. Baby is measuring ahead still (only by a week this time) and has been very very active! Got a crash course on breathing techniques just in-case I decide I want to try them. Also asked about internals, if I should expect for them to start soon, or if they don't routinely do them. MW said that they don't' like to do them until my due date because it causes unnecessary bleeding and cramping, which a lot of time in new mom's freaks them out! She said if I decide I want one at 39 weeks they'll do it at my request, but that it's not their normal practice. I also found out that they have a birthing stool available should I choose to try it, and a birthing ball that I can use not only in room but also in the shower.... and oh does that sounds so heavenly to me! On any given evening I can be found rolling on my yoga ball in the living room to help with the hip pain or soaking in the tub, so I'm pretty sure I'll be taking advantage of those tools!

That's all until next week!

36 weeks (a day early)

36 weeks: Baby is the size of a crenshaw melon

Your baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. She now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement. At the end of this week, your baby will be considered full-term (Full-term is 37 to 42 weeks)!

Appointment update: We had our 36 week appointment yesterday. Met with the one midwife in the practice that we hadn't met yet. She seemed really nice and we got along with her pretty well. We had our Group B Strep test and we'll get the results at our appointment next week (we go weekly now)! I was sort of hoping for an internal exam to see if I was making any progress yet with dilation or effacement but that was a no-go. Maybe next time!

Belly Pic!

35 weeks!!

35 Weeks

35 weeks:
Your baby doesn't have much room to maneuver now that he's over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (as much as a honeydew melon). Because it's so snug in your womb, he isn't likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times he kicks should remain about the same. His kidneys are fully developed now, and his liver can process some waste products. Most of his basic physical development is now complete — he'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.

Stretch marks? oh good Lord yes! I look like I've been attacked by some clawed animal!

Sleep: Sucks!

Movement: Has now become painful! Not always, but lots of the time!

Food commentary: I sit here next to S as he eats a peanut butter sandwich and it makes me want to gag and jump him for it at the same time!

Labor Signs: Think I might be having some come-and-go contractions...

Belly Button in or out? Some days it's in and other days it's out... it goes back and forth!

What I miss: Sleeping on my tummy! Wine! The time when I didn't waddle like a duck!

What I am looking forward to: Another baby shower in a few weeks.... September 19th! And our little babymoon/getaway on the 17th

Nesting madness: The nursery is pretty much put together! WOOHOO!

Squishy's Wardrobe!

If Squishy is a boy... this is what he will have his picture taken in! Love the monkey feet!

If Squishy is a girl... she will have her picture taken in this!

And this is Squishy's coming home out... wishes do come true!

BONUS!

Since Squishy will be here for Halloween this year, and it just so happens to be mommy's favorite holiday, he or she already has a Halloween costume! It says "My first Halloween" plus the adorable pumpkin headband!

On another note... today I got our hospital bags about 80% packed and the cradle moved into our room! Things are really coming together... now we just need a baby! Oh and a pediatrician (they tend to like you to have those before the baby leaves the hospital!) LOL

It's September.

That's right ladies and gentlemen that means that next month we will have a baby! HOLY CRAP! Where on earth has the time gone? The idea that it's possible that we will have a baby as soon as the end of this month is crazy to think about!

Okay that's all I just had to share in my amazement!
