Ladies and Gentlemen... we have a crawler!

K took her first tentative crawling steps today! It was so exciting for all of us! S and I were both on the floor playing with her and I bribed her to come near me using her favorite teething ring! She only moved a few inches before face-planting into the floor but she kept trying all day long to get it just right. She's still hasn't gotten it completely down but I was so proud that she was able to move those few inches.

number 2

K's second tooth came through today! Couldn't believe it two teeth in less than a week!

S also found Little Miss K in a sitting position with her arms up on the side rail of her crib today when he went to get her from her nap! Looks like it's time to lower her crib down a notch. She'll be pulling herself up into a standing position before we know it! In other news she's still skooching backwards but no forward movement just yet. Expecting it won't be long before she starts crawling!

It was a gorgeous day here today at the farmhouse, the weather was in the mid 70's with lots of sunshine! S's brother and his family came over to do a little metal scraping. So SIL and I took their 4 year old and K up to the local ice cream shop to have this summer's first official ice cream cone! We had a really good time and I think K enjoyed her first cone (of course she only got 3 small licks and mommy ate most of it)! I'm glad we got the chance to get outside and enjoy the weather while we can because now it's thundering and lightening out there... we've had some pretty wicked storms the last few days!

TEETH!

All the fussiness, drooling and gnawing on things has finally paid off! K's bottom right tooth broke through the surface today! Can't believe all the milestones she's working on this month!

Bananas

Baby Food Entry #4 - Bananas

Does anyone remember the Gwen Stefani song Hollaback Girl? That song always pops into my head when I have to spell B-A-N-A-N-A-S! Anyways...

Bananas are another one of those foods that don't freeze well and are better served fresh. Which means they are so easy to prepare!

  • Pick a ripe banana.
  • Peal it.
  • Mash it up with a fork (or toss it in your mini food processor like I do)
  • Watch baby enjoy!

**TIP**
When I first served bananas to K I added a bit of breast milk or water whenever I mashed them because they tend to be a bit thick.

All Fours!

K got her self up on her hands and knees today for the first time! Craziness I can't believe she's starting to get ready to crawl! All the sudden she is rolling back and forth with ease and pushing herself up from being on her tummy to a semi-sitting position. Six months old and she's hitting milestones left and right! Go baby go!

six months!

K turned 6 months old yesterday. Half. A. Year. My baby is a half of a year old. Where has the time gone?! We took advantage of the situation and took her Easter pics and 6 month pics at the same time. I can't believe that she's gone from this....

to this!

And here's the Easter pictures!

Avocado

Baby Food Entry #3 - Avocado

I know I know when most people think of avocados they think "GROSS" but they are so full of nutrients and 'good fats', I really recommend giving them a try. Unfortunately they are one of those foods that just don't freeze well pureed, so they are best served fresh.
  1. Pick out an avocado that is firm when pushed but gives slightly.
  2. Cut in half and scoop out the pit.
  3. Then scoop out the insides and mash them until smooth.
All mashed up and ready for K to gobble up!
She thought they were pretty good!

 **TIPS and FUN FACTS**
  • Avocados mix really well with bananas, but don't mix unless baby has already had both of these separately!
  • Avocados are not a veggie they are a fruit. I did not know this! Maybe I'm a little late to the game on this one?!
